[He is God.] Do you really have to bring the crap from the Talmud here??! He was the greatest sax player ever. It was his skill and talent. It was not a divine thing though. Please leave the racist supremacism out of it.

Is that a Duk? I have a Dukoff also, and that looks exactly like one. I think it is. What kind? He has the best tone out of it though. Him and James Carter. Mike is IT though.

I believe Michael used a vintage Dukoff, don't quote me on that. It looks like a vintage 60's dukoff mouthpiece. I am not sure though.
Listen to this more and more makes me believe that this is one of the best solo's Brecker ever played that was caught on record. Simply amazing.

[flaming cock-sucker] is another perfect example of how intellectual you are. Please don't try to deceive people about your intellect. Your comment was purely a hateful homophobic attack, with no substance with regards to the comment it was posted as an answer to. That is not rational behaviour.

i was responding to your [He is god] rant. grow the fuck up. Brecker is god is a metaphor, okay? No one is saying that he is the divine lord. He is this century's Coltrane and Parker combined + more. No one can touch Michael Brecker. May he rest in peace.

I am a massive fan of his work, and the comment may have been metaphorical, but in Talmudic reasoning each Jewish person is God on Earth. It actually says "hitting a Jewish person is the same as hitting God". Brecker was and still is a massive light in my World, and the Talmudists can stay out of it. If they bring on quoted from him, then that's another matter, but as far as I know there are none. [grow the fuck up]is another perfect example of your intellectual level.
My comment was ... ( 2 months ago by Napoleonjackbootie)
My comment was simple, and provided inspiration for those who may have thought that Brecker's level of achievement would be impossible for "mere mortals". Both Brecker and Jamey Aebersold stated that Jazz ability is something gained by practice, and that anybody can develop it. Breckers work is a tribute to devotion. Practice makes the musician. Brecker was a patterns expert.

I always think of Ghosts when I hear this. Maybe its' even closer to another Ayler tune? There is so much room to expand on Albert Ayler.

The theme is surely very close to Ghosts, but his solemnity reminds me a lot of his "marchin' tunes" like Spirits Rejoice

I'd say. First time I've ever heard this tune and I damn near fell off my chair for moving to that fat groove. What a rhythm section.

Yea, George Duke Keys, Alphonso Bass, Peter Erskine Drums. I have also owned this record for years and thrilled to see a live version. Of course it was done in Japan! Gotta hand it to the Japanese for supporting some of the best Jazz from the USA.
