| No. The plane crash was caused by the island's sudden spike in electromagnetism. This sudden spike of electromagnetism was ACCIDENTALLY caused by Desmond, who, for a few seconds, was not able to press the button. When the Others saw the plane crash, they wanted to invade the passengers because they believed them to be a threat. So no, they did not want to them to crash on the island, and they didn't know about it beforehand, either. |

| Jmochi is right, Desmond the guy keeps saying Brother who is scotsh i think was the reason, when he was in the room that keep on typing the code and reset, He said this is all lie and didnt type the code and this what happend a huge magnatic force came on which caused the flight to lose all system, and hmm the OTHERS also was affected which caused Earthquake. I remember seeing Lost last year i am wondering when will Season 5 be on |

| I know why it crashed. Desmond David Hume was in the Swan Complex (or the Hatch), typing the numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42 to keep the build up of electromagnetic energy from destroying the facility. Oceanic Flight 815 was flying over the island, and when Desmond pressed execute on the button, the magnetism built up and broke the plane apart, bringing it to the island with intense strength. |

| Just because your dad does that doesnt mean your right. If the plane even had a dent in the fuselage maintenance would do a full evaluation of it and make sure it was functioning perfectly. And turbulence could not tear a plane in half |

| Thats also how the others got on the island. They were prisoners on a ship that was carrying iron I believe the the magnetic force of the island pulled the boat toward and into the island. That's why the find the ship in the middle of the island instead of shipwrecked at the shore. |

| Warning Spoilers for Season 2-3 up ahead. Desmond didn't push the button in the hatch, or the pearl. This means the magnetic force inside the hatch wasn't compressed, as it usually is when the button is pressed. So the magnetic force broke the plane in half. Also, as we see from the opening of Season 2, the magnetic discharge also shook the island, along with the incoming airplane. The reason the plane could find the island was because it was at a heading of 3.05, from where it was off course. |
